Reestreno la sirenita en cines - disney clings on and will re-release 'the little mermaid' in theaters... Despite failure

Apparently, Disney will not stop until the live-action of The Little Mermaid becomes one of the highest-grossing releases of 2023… despite its box-office “failure.”

The company announced this August the re-release of the movie starring Halle Bailey, but now in its ‘Sing Along’ version, which allows the viewer to create a Karaoke environment, subtitling all the songs. The film, directed by Rob Marshall, seeks to increase its box office, which amounts to just over 500 million dollars.

The announcement, far from making people happy, caused them indignation, since most considered it a mockery, since “it seems that they want to force a success that this film will never have.” Some users commented: “Let it run for a year,” “Have you ever seen anything so miserable begging to see a movie?” “Thanks but no thanks…” and “Don’t let the desperation show,” among the comments.

The Little Mermaid Was Never a Favorite

Since it was announced in 2019 that the live-action of The Little Mermaid would star an African-American actress, people opposed it, and for many, it was the reason for not seeing it. The film was shrouded in discrimination, racism, and sexism, being the least expected of this year, which, in turn, affected its success at the box office.

Far from giving Halle a chance with her talent as an actress and singer, people immediately rejected her because she was “not like the original Little Mermaid,” even branding her as a ‘childhood ruiner.’ The truth is that the failure of the film had nothing to do with her performance, the special effects, the story, or anything related to the production; it was pure racism and discrimination.

When Will The Little Mermaid Premiere on Disney+?

Although there is no exact date yet, The Little Mermaid is expected to arrive on Disney+ in late summer 2023. Usually, Disney’s top-grossing films are released three months after their theatrical release, so by far, this film could be available on the streaming platform on August 30 this year, as new titles are integrated into the catalog on Wednesdays.
