Although there are several versions of her legend, few know where la llorona's tomb is located.

There are many versions regarding the legend of La Llorona, the most common and told is that of the woman who killed her children. When she regretted doing so, she condemned herself to wander through eternity, grieving in the darkness for having taken their lives. However, little is known about La Llorona‘s tomb and whether it really exists.

Without really being certain that her tomb exists, there are those who claim that La Llorona‘s remains are found in the municipality of Dolores, Hidalgo, in Guanajuato. Specifically in the Hacienda Siete Reales, located at kilometer 21 of the Dolores Hidalgo-San Luis de la Paz highway. In that place, there is a kind of monument, with a kind of font and it is believed that below that construction is the tomb of La Llorona. A plaque dating from September 1923 was also placed on the tomb, however, the townspeople claim that La Llorona’s laments have been heard since 1850.

What is said about the tomb of La Llorona?

Local residents say that the woman’s soul appeared at night and that when they warned her friends and family of the sighting of La Llorona, they disappeared or died. Because of this, the people believed that these events were linked to the ghostly specter. Given the events, they say all the torment ended until they placed a plaque on the grave where her remains are supposedly located. They later built the monument, which they have since said is the location of La Llorona’s tomb.

They also indicated that it was until some missionaries blessed the monument that the laments and sobs stopped being heard and La Llorona no longer appeared. If you want to visit the place, you must ask for permission when you arrive at Hacienda Siete Reales, you can locate it with Google Maps, as it is private property and it is recommended to arrive between 10 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon, as it is closed with a padlock and you have to find someone who authorizes entry. So now you know, if you like legends or mysterious places, then we do recommend visiting the tomb of La Llorona, which is already part of Mexican culture and folklore.
