According to TMZ, Jamie Spears agreed to step down to the conservatorship of his daughter and wants to reach an orderly transition agreement at court.
“There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr. Spears as the Conservator of the Estate […]. And it is highly debatable whether a change in Conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears’ best interests.” Court documents reported.
According to official documents, the singer’s father notes that “he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests.”
“Mr. Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter’s new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator.”
Britney’s new lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, asked the Los Angeles Superior Court that the next session, scheduled for September 29, be moved up to August 23 because his client is suffering “avoidable harm and damage”.
“We are pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have today conceded in a filing that he must be removed. It is vindication for Britney. We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms. Spears and others,” Rosengart added.
For the time being, the court denied Britney’s petition to move up the hearing date, and it will be held as scheduled by late September. It is expected that Britney’s father will be replaced by a financial advisor, which would nullify practically all the powers that Jamie has over Britney since the medical aspects of her guardianship are being supervised by attorney Jody Montgomery.
Jamie Spears and Montgomery are the only ones still involved in the case following the resignation of the previous attorney appointed for Britney, her artistic representative, and an investment fund that controlled the singer’s wealth along with Jamie Spears.
A month ago, the court allowed Britney to choose her own attorney for the first time, a substantial precedent-setting change in the conservatorship, which after Britney’s deposition on June 23 has gone around the world.
