Inside Dua Lipa’s Palermo Wedding: Baroque Villas, 300 Guests, and Elton John

Villa valguarnera in bagheria, sicily, the venue for dua lipa and callum turner's wedding ceremony in june 2026.

Two weeks after quietly signing papers at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall on May 31, 2026, Dua Lipa and Callum Turner landed in Palermo for the wedding they actually wanted: a three-day, 300-guest Baroque takeover of Sicily’s most storied venues, with a reported Elton John piano set and 26 custom Versace outfits waiting in the wardrobe. The courthouse was the formality. Sicily is the celebration.

A Historic Tour of Palermo — One Venue at a Time

The itinerary reads less like a wedding schedule and more like a private cultural tour with champagne. On Friday, June 5, the couple rented out the Galleria d’Arte Moderna for an exclusive afternoon walkthrough before spilling out into the cordoned square for a cocktail reception. That evening, the party reportedly moved to Palazzo Gangi — the same opulent salon where Luchino Visconti filmed the legendary ballroom scene in his 1963 masterpiece The Leopard. If you’re going to dance in Sicily, that’s the room to do it.

Saturday, June 6, was the main event: a symbolic ceremony and gala dinner at Villa Valguarnera in nearby Bagheria, an 18th-century Baroque estate perched above the Gulf of Palermo. The villa’s Galleria degli Specchi — a Hall of Mirrors that would make Versailles nervous — served as the backdrop for a menu curated by a two-Michelin-star Roman chef, built around deeply Sicilian classics: arancini, pasta alla norma, cannoli. And then, reportedly, one of the greatest performers of the last 50 years sat down at a piano. Whether you call it a wedding or a concert at this point is a matter of semantics.

Throughout the weekend, the couple and their guests commandeered entire floors of the five-star Art Nouveau Grand Hotel Villa Igiea, perched directly on the sea. Dua and Callum are said to be in the Donna Franca Suite, with terrace views that stretch across the Mediterranean. Rumor has it the afterparty moved to a luxury superyacht named Nympheas, moored just outside. At some point, even a Sicilian sunset becomes a prop.

The Guest List, the Wardrobe, and the Locals Who Had Opinions

Palermo Airport has reportedly been fielding private jets since Thursday. Among those confirmed or strongly anticipated: Charli XCX and her husband George Daniel of The 1975; Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, who produced tracks on Dua’s Radical Optimism album, with his wife Sophie; Mark Ronson and Grace Gummer; Kylie Minogue; Harry Styles; Donatella Versace; and Elton John himself. That’s not a guest list — that’s a festival lineup.

The fashion side of this wedding is its own production. Dua wore a clean, understated white Schiaparelli skirt-suit for the London civil ceremony — which in retrospect was just the warm-up. For Sicily, her close friend Donatella Versace personally oversaw her bridal styling, preparing a reported 26 custom outfit options for Dua to rotate through across the three days. Twenty-six. The logistics of that alone — fittings, transportation, storage — would be a documentary.

Not everyone in Palermo was cheering. While local officials welcomed the global attention and the influx of high-end tourism, residents caught on the wrong side of the road closures were less enthusiastic. One local, speaking to reporters, put it in terms that are very hard to argue with: they said they could understand the disruption “if it was for the Pope, but not for a singer.” Respect the honesty.
