Where all the pre-printed championship merchandise of the losing team goes?

Have you seen that the moment a winning team is announced in any championship, its staff is already wearing commemorative shirts and hats and you wonder, if they were already prepared, it means the losing team was as well? And then, what will happen to all that now inaccurate merchandise.

The thing about this is that, because of the high demand for this type of clothing and memorabilia to celebrate a championship, manufacturers produce tons of shirts, hats, caps, and other souvenirs to be ready as soon as the team wins. Leaving tons of the loser team’s products unused.

Fortunately, all this merchandise is not wasted but rather used to help those in need not only in the US but worldwide.

Good360 is responsible for this. The charitable organization, based in Virginia, receives all those unused products and distributes them to those in need overseas.

To do so, they held a count of how much of this type of product is available and then locate them where they can best be of service.

According to Shari Rudolph, Good360 chief development, the goal of this charity is to contribute to a “social impact and human dignity by providing high quality, needed goods to those who might otherwise go without”, he explained to Mental Floss.

Since 2015, when the charity took over NFL’s excess goods, people in El Salvador or Haiti after the destructive earthquake that shattered the country in 2010, have been benefited from these items.
