The wait is over… or something like that: BTS fans will finally be able to enjoy the return of the band, although not in a live show but through the opening of a new television program in South Korea.
BTS Made a Song for a Television Series
Before several of its members enlisted for military service, the beloved South Korean group prepared a single that will be part of the opening intro of an animated program called Bastions, according to NME.
And although the song may have been produced months ago, it wasn’t until this April that the SBS television network released the official video of the opening with the BTS single in the background, which still doesn’t have a title.
This track will be the first release from the group as a whole since they released their most recent album, Proof, in June 2002, after which their music project was put on hold to pursue individual goals.
Since then, some members of the band, like Jimin, have released solo songs, and others, like Jin, are currently performing their duties in their country’s military.
“By singing the main theme song in perfect harmony, BTS is expected to provide an overwhelming sense of immersion in the emotions and action scenes of the series,” commented Timos Media, the program’s production company, in a statement shared by Yonhap.
Details About Bastions That K-Pop Lovers Will Enjoy
BTS will not be the only K-pop band to participate in the Bastions soundtrack, as other groups and celebrities such as LE SSERAFIM, Brave Girls, AleXa, and Heize were invited to create special songs that will appear throughout the season.
And this is an important milestone in the history of this musical genre, as, for example, this will be the first time that the Brave Girls group will do something together after leaving their training company, Brave Entertainment.
Bastions will premiere in South Korea on May 14, with a story full of action and adventures that follows a rookie superhero who discovers the identity of a villain seeking to destroy the Earth through anti-environmental projects.
The Future of the Other BTS Members
Although it is currently unknown if we will see the group reunited again in a few years, due to some contract signing issues with several members it is a fact that several of these artists are already preparing more solo projects.
For example, V recently shared a teaser of his upcoming unreleased single, titled “Maybe,” through an impromptu live broadcast in the early hours of the morning on his fan community, Weverse.
And on the other hand, Suga will release his debut studio album, D-Day, on April 21, accompanied by a documentary titled Suga: Road to D-Day, which will be exclusively released on the same date through Weverse and Disney+.
