The man is now known as “Italy’s Forrest Gump”, since his real name has not been revealed. Italy’s Gump left his Como home in northern Italy, close to the Swiss border, after having an argument with his wife. The man was missing for a week, so his wife even filed a missing person’s report, when he didn’t come home.
Police detained him in Fano for violating the curfew from 10 pm to 5 am enforced to control the second Covid-19 wave. When asked what he was doing there, the man replied that he had walked all the way from the city of Como. The officers were stunned, since there 450 kilometers from Como to Fano. Some Italian news outlets even wondered how far he would have gotten had the police not encountered this unnamed wanderer.
His wife had to go get him in that city next to the Adriatic Sea. Their reunion was sweet, and the wife was happy that her husband was fine. However, he still had to pay a 400 euro fine for having broken curfew and wandered outside so late at night.
Once again, reality proves to be stranger than fiction.
