News of Britney Spears’ being smacked on the face broke the Internet this Thursday. The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 5, in Las Vegas. Britney approached NBA player Victor Wembanyama at a restaurant and Damian Smith, the Director of Team Security for the Spurs, automatically pushed her hitting her on the face.
According to TMZ, which broke the news, Smith, later on, approached Britney at her table and simply said You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans.” Britney’s team filed a report at the police, a report that was filed as a criminal investigation. Now it’s been revealed that nor Smith nor Wembanyama will be charged for the assault, but Britney and her husband aren’t happy with how things are being developed.
On social media, the couple broke the silence on the assault. Britney recounted what happened like this: “I recognized an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again. I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.”
Wembanyama had declared before, that Britney “grabbed him from behind,” excusing his team’s actions. However, the ‘Princess of Pop’ responded to that with what we are all thinking: “I get swarmed by people all the time. In fact, that night I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn’t hit any of them.”

One of the major excuses that Wembanyama and his team have had is that they didn’t know it was Britney Spears the one they assaulted until later. But that doesn’t matter, this only means that we learned about how this particular security team deals with the protection of their clients because they happened to attack a celebrity, but how many fans have received the same treatment only for wanting a photo or saying hi?
Sam Asghari, Britney’s husband posted that he hopes “the man in question learns a lesson and changes his disregard for women.” Both, Britney and Sam, are expecting at least a public apology for what happened. They won’t press charges anymore against David Smith but they are firm that Wenbanyama and his team should address this publicly instead of making excuses for what happened.
