Like every year, one day before the official announcement of the Oscar nominees—which will take place this Tuesday, January 23—the Golden Raspberry Awards, better known as Razzie, announce their nominees to “reward” the worst in cinema throughout the year. Known as the anti-Oscars, the award ceremony was born in 1980 by the critic and writer John J. B. Wilson, as a way to make fun of the Academy Awards. Despite not being liked by part of Hollywood, in recent years the infamous award has gained recognition and credibility among the public.
The award ceremony is a tradition, during the awards season, which is presented one day before the prestigious golden statuette; as a way to compete in the audience for the highest award in cinema; However, like the Oscar, the Razzie has also been involved in controversy, one of the most notable was when in 2023 a girl was nominated for worst actress. Another controversy occurred with Bruce Willis, for whom they created a special category because he participated as a supporting actor in eight films. The nomination took on an embarrassing tone when the actor withdrew from the cinema after announcing that he suffered from aphasia, a language disorder that requires communication.
