A famous Youtuber miraculously saved his life after crashing with his paraglider when he fell at more than 60 kilometers per hour when he made a trip through the desert. Anthony Vella, 33, was flying at Enchanted Rock State Park northwest of Austin when the paraglider suddenly collapsed at a height of more than 30 meters. The accident was caught on camera.
Anthony Vella shared the entire video of the accident and it was confirmed that the Youtuber spent more than half an hour without being able to move in his sleep until the paramedics arrived at the scene to treat him.
Youtuber almost died while flying a paraglider
The YouTuber did not mention when the accident occurred, but his previous video was posted eight days earlier. The new video began with him in his hospital bed, where he is being treated for neck, back and pelvic fractures. His right arm was destroyed.
Vella explained that the accident was due to him overlooking a small knot during his checks before takeoff. Applying brakes to a fully accelerated glider collapses it, and a snagged tension knot has the same effect.
Anthony showed the accident from three different angles as he fell towards him at full speed and immediately screamed in pain from his serious injuries. “Please help me, I crashed with my paraglider!” he told a dispatcher after asking Siri on his cell phone to call 911 as he screamed in pain.
A person arrived within two minutes of the accident and his friend reached them two minutes later, who pulled the paraglider off of him. The former later explained that they were working nearby and said he saw him fall from the sky and ran towards him after calling an ambulance.
However, they spoke mainly in Spanish, so Vella had to continue talking to the dispatcher “shit, my arm is totally broken!” he said desperately after examining himself.
About 15 minutes after the accident, the man who stayed with him could see the ambulance in the distance, but had difficulty reaching them. The video then skipped to the moment paramedics arrived and he told them he thought he had been there for about 30 minutes.
