During the early hours of Tuesday morning, a security guard employed by Drake sustained injuries in a shooting outside the rapper’s Toronto residence, according to police reports.
Inspector Paul Krawczyk, a member of the gun and gang task force, disclosed at a news conference held at the scene that the wounded man was transported to a hospital to receive treatment for a gunshot.
The perpetrators fled the scene in a vehicle and are currently evading capture; although the police have video footage of the incident, they did not provide a description of the suspects.

“At this point, it’s too early to determine a motive, but we’ll share any updates as they become available,” stated Inspector Krawczyk during the news conference. While he couldn’t confirm whether Drake was present during the shooting, he assured that authorities had been in communication with Drake’s team, who were fully cooperating.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
The shooting took place outside the gates of Drake’s 50,000-square-foot mansion in the Bridle Path neighborhood of North York, Toronto. However, authorities clarified that the incident did not involve the rapper himself.
The shooting incident followed a weekend marked by escalating personal diss tracks exchanged between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, the Compton, California-based rapper. Their long-standing musical feud culminated in the release of six songs within a span of 72 hours, featuring pointed attacks involving family members and allegations of mistreatment against women from both sides.
Despite many accusing Kendrick Lamar because of the recent issues between the two rappers, specifically for featuring Drake’s home on the cover of one of his latest singles, ‘Not Like Us’, where Kendrick directly accuses Drake of being a pedophile, the ‘Hotline Bling’ interpreter had previously referred to the location of his home, which he calls the Embassy, on tracks like “7AM on Bridle Path.”
In addition to many expressing their favoritism for Lamar, numerous individuals have taken to social media platforms such as TikTok and Twitter to criticize Drake. However, it appears that even more people have taken it beyond social media.
