For centuries, ankles and feet have been considered two of the most erotic parts of the female anatomy. Its delicate contours and fine shape is provocative and enticing. In some cases, it has to do with the fact that some centuries ago it was the only thing they could “show” in public spaces, but it also became the representation of the delicacy and femininity. The fascination with this particular part of the body was such that even in the thirties and forties people held ankle contests where women were lined up and a male judge would only see their ankles.
Now, while many, especially men, think of ankles as a sign of weakness, as it is the case of the famed Achilles, whose ankle was the only part that wasn’t dipped in the River Styx. However, for others it’s the representation of freedom, as it occurs with the god Hermes, whose winged ankles gave him the freedom to move wherever he wanted to. This apparently simple part of our anatomy encloses a wide variety of meanings, so it is the perfect area to get a tattoo.
Personally, while I do agree that it’s a part that conveys femininity, I also think that, like the Greek deity, it’s also a symbol of freedom. Even if we were to think in anatomical ways, ankles are the joints that allows us to move, jump, run, and move forward. We tend to think of a tattoo as meaningful because it’s design represents our personality or our story, but its importance can also be drawn from it is made.
Now, we’re constantly said that we have to get a tattoo with a deep meaning that reveals who we are and our place in life. And I only agree with that a little bit. While it’s true that tattoos have become a trend and people get customized designs just because they’re pretty or fashionable, I do not think we should only get one that represents our life to make it meaningful. From ancient times, tattoos have had many different purposes, from denoting power and prowess to simple decoration.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you should just get anything out there. Whether it has meaning or not, you have to really think about the design you’re going to get for the rest of your life. I, as the proud owner of six tattoos, could say that only three of them have a special meaning for me while the rest I got them for aesthetic purposes because they’re designs I always loved.
If you want to get a tattoo just for its beauty, ankle bracelets are a great option. Not only do they look elegant due to their simplicity and delicacy, but they will give your ankles that special something that will enhance their beauty. This particular trend tries to mimic ankle jewelry in a more intricate and striking way.
There are many options and designs, from little colorful flowers and simple strokes that resemble a real thread bracelet, to very intricate and detailed Hindi patterns. All of them look gorgeous and don’t need a deep explanation. As it happens in life, not everything needs to have a deep meaning; just be sure that it’s a design you love and bear in mind that it will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Our bodies have become the best canvas to exhibit our tastes and stories. While it doesn’t really matter what you get as long as you love it, there’s a huge difference between getting a cheap tattoo than a high-quality one. Always make sure, you’re going to the proper tattoo artist. Source:
