I’ve always thought that each place in the world has a wide number of beautiful and amazing spots to visit. However, there are some places that seem to have gotten the lucky number in the distribution of wonders. Getting to know all of these places seems like an impossible task I’d be willing to try. One of these amazing countries is India, and the places I’m going to show you aren’t even half of the many amazing spots this country has to offer. We’re talking about a civilization that settled about 30,000 years ago, so it has one of the richest countries in terms of culture, history, amount of resources, and incredible touristic spots.
The merging of different traditions and civilizations offers a wide range of opportunities for basically any taste and interest, and for that reason, it’s one of those places you really have to visit at least once in your life. Naturally, planning a trip like that requires a thorough planning because it’s the seventh largest territory in the world. So, here are only 25 of the many amazing spots India has to offer.

The Kerala Backwaters are a set of interconnected lagoons and lakes located in the southern state of Kerala. Besides the amazing natural landscapes, one of its main tourist attractions are the unique houseboats called kettuvallams that navigate the 900 km of the backwaters. These boats are huge constructions that were originally used for transportation, but nowadays they offer trips to get a closer look of the landscape and the amazing aquatic and terrestrial species living in it.

Ladakh, “The Little Tibet”
If you’re more of a cold weather person, you’ll love this place. Ladakh is a region located in the state of Kammy and Kashmir, in the northern region of India. As part of the Himalayas mountain range, an important part of the population are of Tibetan descent, thus the unofficial title of “The Little Tibet.” Besides the amazing mountain landscape and the lakes and rivers surrounding it, the state has many other spots to offer, from a variety of restaurants to impressive temples and many festivals throughout the year you can visit to fully admire the culture.

If your trip is taking you to western India, you must visit the city of Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan. Founded in the eighteenth century, this is the tenth most populated city in the country. The city has the perfect balance between the modern and the traditional essence that makes India such an appealing place. It has different temples and palaces including Amer Fort and the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the winds), a colossal palace built in the nineteenth century with pink and red sandstone that gives it a unique texture and color. The palace was built for the maharajah’s harem, so that women could see the everyday life of the city without being exposed.

Also located in northern India in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Dal Lake is the perfect summer destination and one of the most popular places for vacation. Besides taking great boat trips in shikara boats, or as they’re popularly known, the “gondolas of Kashmir,” the region has many other touristic spots you can be amazed by. There’s the Shankaracharya temple dedicated to Shiva, the Mughal gardens of Chashme Shahi, built in the seventeenth century as a gift to the emperor’s son, or the Hazratbal Shrine, where you can see the Moi-e-Muqqadas relic, which many Muslims believe is the real hair of Muhammad.

If you want to go back to the ancient origins of the country, the Ajanta Caves in the state of Maharashtra is a must in your list. It’s believed that the first ones were built around the fifth and the seventh century, and they consist of a set of 29 rock-cut monuments and small temples. Considered one of the UNESCO’s World Heritage, the Ajanta Caves not only represent one of the many religious faiths of the country, but also the majestic architecture and art of ancient India.
As you can see there are so many options that it’s impossible to look at them in one trip. So, if you’ve fallen for this paradisiac country like me, then we’ll probably meet there!
