Once again, Hollywood is in mourning after learning of the sad passing of the great Alan Arkin. The causes of his passing haven’t been disclosed but his sons Adam, Matthew, and Anthony, confirmed the news to People Magazine this Friday with a touching joint statement:
“Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed.”
Alan Arkin had a long and prolific career that started in the late 60s. His work in the industry wasn’t limited to acting; since his beginnings, he proved to be a great writer, director, and producer. But without a doubt, he will always be remembered for the heart and passion with which he brought to life endless characters.
Of course, one of his most iconic roles was that of Grandpa Edwin Hoover in Little Miss Sunshine; a role that finally won him an Academy Award. Lately, he starred in great projects like The Kominsky Method and Dumbo.
Rest in peace, Alan Arkin.
