It seems Anne Hathaway is determined to fight against the editorial fashion industry since The Devil Wears Prada! This time, she took a stand against real-life Miranda PriestleyAnna Wintour, and her gigantic fashion emporium as she decided to leave a photo shoot in solidarity with Condé Nast’s union protests.

According to Variety, last year, the editorial company announced they were going to lay off about 5% of its staff (around 300 employees) to reduce costs and “improve efficiency.” Since the company has been taking measures that employees don’t agree with as they deem them “unlawful bargaining tactics during layoff negotiations.”

To protest, the union called for a 24-hour work stoppage starting this Tuesday 23, which coincided with the announcement of the Oscar nominations, a very busy day for all media outlets. Employees from Condé Nast’s branches, Vanity Fair, Vogue, GQ, Allure, Condé Nast Entertainment, Architectural Diges, Glamour, Self, and Teen Vogue, among others, joined the union to protest outside the company’s headquarters in New York City.

Now, what about Anne Hathaway? The Oscar-winning actress was getting ready for a photo shoot at Vanity Fair early this morning. She was literally in hair and makeup when one of her team members was notified about the protest. Considering all that happened during the writers’ and actors’ strikes, one SAG-AFTRA member advised her team to support Condé Nast’s union protest.

And so she did. Without saying much, Hathaway simply took her belongings and left the building. “They hadn’t even started taking photos yet. Once Anne was made aware of what was going on, she just got up from hair and makeup and left,” said a witness to Variety.

After all, they endured during the strikes, it seems actors are more aware of working conditions outside their union, and Anne Hathaway supporting Condé Nast’s employees without hesitating proves that.
