Bruce Willis is in such a delicate condition that his wife, Emma Heming, opted for a drastic measure: moving the actor into one of their homes with constant medical care. However, the reason behind this decision is even more heartbreaking—Emma is already preparing for his death. For fans, Bruce Willis’ movies hold countless memories, and hearing that such a legendary actor is in the final stage of his life is hard to process. But for his family, it’s infinitely more painful. That is why Emma decided to speak out and explain her decision to separate him from the rest of the family.
Bruce Willis and His Eventual Passing

In her recent book, The Unexpected Journey, Emma Heming Willis revealed the motives behind what might seem like a cold decision to move Bruce to another home. Yet, when reading her words, her reasoning becomes clear: she wanted to prepare their daughters for his eventual passing.
“Giving the girls some space away from Bruce also helps prepare them for his death. I know how dark and unsettling that sounds. But that is the harsh reality of the world I must face in order to keep protecting our girls as best I can,”
Emma writes in the book.
The former model also explained that while there is no specific timeline for her husband’s condition, doctors told her the average life expectancy is seven to 13 years after the onset of symptoms of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Bruce Willis was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, and by 2023 his condition had progressed to FTD. While it may seem like the end is not near, the truth is no one can know if tomorrow could bring the news of his passing.

“I believe that getting used to being just the three of us at home will soften the blow for Mabel and Evelyn when the inevitable comes. Until there’s a cure, this disease will always win,” Emma declared. From now on, her focus is solely on preparing their daughters, aged 13 and 11, so that the heartbreaking news will not come as a complete shock.
