Daniel craig and rachel weisz photographed together at a public event, marking 15 years of their private hollywood marriage.

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz have been married for 15 years, and almost nothing about their relationship has been made public by choice. No magazine exclusives, no red-carpet declarations, no co-ordinated social posts — just two A-list actors who decided their private life was exactly that. What makes their story worth telling is how it started: a London theater in 1994, a decade and a half of separate lives, and then a film set that brought them back together as a fictional married couple just before they became a real one.

A Theater in London, 1994, and Then Nothing for 16 Years

Long before James Bond and long before The Mummy, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz were simply two young theater actors in London trying to build careers. In 1994, they appeared together in a production of Philip Ridley’s play at the National Theatre Studio — a meeting that left enough of an impression to survive, quietly, for the next decade and a half. But life pulled them in different directions. Craig married actress Fiona Loudon, with whom he has a daughter, Ella, and later had a long relationship with producer Satsuki Mitchell. Weisz entered a multi-year relationship with director Darren Aronofsky, with whom she has a son, Henry. Two full careers, two long relationships, two separate lives. The 1994 encounter was filed away.

Then came Dream House. In late 2010, both were cast as a married couple in the psychological thriller filmed in Canada — and both had recently separated from their respective long-term partners. the way fictional roles blur into real relationships It is one of those facts that sounds like a screenplay note, except it actually happened: they played husband and wife on screen and by Christmas 2010 were spotted together in a village in Somerset, England. The fiction had started becoming something else.

Four Guests, No Press, No Announcement

On June 22, 2011, in New York City, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz got married. The guest list had four people: Craig’s daughter Ella, Weisz’s son Henry, and two close friends who served as witnesses. There were no photographers, no magazine deals, no public statement — the news only surfaced after the ceremony was already done. For two people whose faces are on billboards worldwide, this is not a small thing to pull off.

They have maintained that register ever since. Weisz has said, in the rare interview where the subject has come up, that talking about her marriage in public feels like protecting it — that making it communal property would diminish something that belongs to them. That’s not a talking point; the last 15 years are the evidence. In 2013, they appeared together on Broadway in Harold Pinter’s Betrayal, directed by Mike Nichols, playing a married couple navigating infidelity — the second time fiction and biography have rhymed for them in an almost pointed way. The production was a critical and box-office success. In April 2018, Weisz confirmed during a New York Times interview that she was pregnant; their daughter was born in August 2018, and her name has never been shared publicly.

What 15 Years of Quiet Actually Looks Like

Craig and Weisz split their time between New York and the UK, and the rhythm of their life together is largely invisible to the outside world — which, given the scale of their careers, takes real effort. Craig wrapped his run as James Bond with No Time to Die in 2021; Weisz continues to work across film and theater. They show up at each other’s premieres occasionally. They do not give joint interviews. There are very few paparazzi photos that tell you anything.

Fifteen years is not a milestone most Hollywood couples reach, and fewer still reach it while keeping this much of themselves intact. The story of Craig and Weisz is, in the end, a story about two people who understood early that the relationship was more valuable than the coverage of it — and who have acted accordingly, every single year since a film set in Canada reminded them they already knew each other.
