In 2021, the actor shared a video in which he said that he had been admitted to The River’s Edge Ranch and that he wanted to get out of this habit because his brother had died of an overdose.
“I would say that when I was 19 years old was when I got into heavy drugs… I think I hit rock bottom when my brother Austin died from a heroin overdose,” he confessed in the recording.
His family was devastated by the news, but they were grateful for having been able to live with him and share moments full of immense happiness.
“In the end, he fell in his earthly battle against addiction… we already miss Evan and appreciate every moment of joy, laughter, and love he brought to us and so many others,” they commented.
