Diddy could walk out of court today—even after two federal convictions

Sean “Diddy” Combs is hoping to walk out of court today. Not acquitted, not vindicated—just freed on bond, even after being found guilty of two federal crimes.

After a split verdict in his sex trafficking trial on Wednesday, Combs’ legal team immediately petitioned Judge Arun Subramanian to release him while he awaits sentencing.

“Is your proposal that Mr. Combs leave the courtroom and walk outside?” the judge asked, clearly incredulous.

Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo replied without flinching:

“That is my proposal.”

Combs, who has been jailed in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September 2024, was found guilty of two felony counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution—charges that carry up to 10 years each. But the jury acquitted him on the most explosive allegations: racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion.

Now, the man accused of orchestrating a web of sexual abuse, manipulation, and power-based exploitation could be granted the freedom to wait out his sentencing at his Florida mansion.

Diddy Verdict Sparks Shock After Weeks of Harrowing Testimon

For nearly a month, the courtroom was filled with gut-wrenching accounts of what prosecutors called “Freak Offs” and “Hotel Nights”—terms witnesses used to describe nights where Diddy allegedly directed elaborate sexual encounters involving his girlfriends and paid male sex workers. At the center of the trial were two of Combs’ former partners, including singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and a woman identified only as “Jane.” Both described coercion, violence, and a culture of fear. Ventura testified that Combs raped her near the end of their 11-year relationship.

Prosecutors brought 34 witnesses to the stand, including celebrities like Kid Cudi and Dawn Richard, to build their case that Diddy had turned his music empire into a personal trafficking operation. The defense called no witnesses. Their strategy: undermine credibility, stress consent, and argue that nothing rose to the level of a criminal enterprise.

It worked—partially. The jury, after three days of deliberation, refused to convict Combs on the most serious counts. But the two Mann Act violations—federal crimes rooted in flying people across state lines for sex—still carry serious weight.

Can You Be Guilty and Still Go Home?

That’s the question Judge Subramanian now faces. Prosecutors and defense attorneys were ordered to submit arguments by 1 p.m. today. The judge’s decision could come at any moment.

Combs’ team insists that the acquittals on sex trafficking and racketeering change the stakes. But the public—and the court—just heard weeks of disturbing, detailed testimony. The charges that stuck may not be the most salacious, but they’re still felony convictions in a federal courtroom.

There is also the reality that Combs faces multiple civil suits for sexual misconduct—cases that could resurface the same allegations that the jury, for whatever reason, could not unanimously agree on.

Whether he walks free today or not, one thing is certain: this trial changed the way the world sees Sean Combs. The music mogul once known for his invincibility is now a convicted felon. And today, we’ll learn if that matters—or if celebrity power still bends the rules of justice.
