Singer Halsey opened her heart to reveal that she suffers from leukemia and lupus, diseases she has been fighting for some time, but which she has so far been encouraged to make public.
Through her new song “The End”, the celebrity spoke in a very personal way about the way she has lived her treatments and how this has affected her not only physically, but emotionally.
In her song, Halsey shows herself without masks that really hide who she is and without fear of being seen as a vulnerable person who for several years has had to face the idea of dying alone.
“I feel like an old woman. I told myself that I would give myself two more years to be sick… At 30, I’m being reborn and I’m not going to be sick and I’m going to look super sexy and I’m going to have a lot of energy and I’m just going to be able to redo my 20s and 30s,” the artist is heard saying.
However, perhaps one of the parts that touched us the most is the one in which Halsey says:
“When I met you, I thought I was damaged goods
Had a fucked up childhood
And there’s poison in my brain and in my blood
If you knew it was the end of the world
Could you love me like a child?”
What is lupus?
Lupus is a disease in which the immune system, which normally protects us from disease, becomes confused and attacks parts of the body.
It’s as if the immune system goes crazy and starts attacking things it shouldn’t, like your joints, skin, kidneys, and other organs.
There is no cure for lupus, but there are treatments that can help control symptoms and improve quality of life.
Treatment for Leukemia
Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood. Normally, the bone marrow produces healthy blood cells, but in leukemia, it produces a bunch of white blood cells that don’t work well and crowd out normal cells, causing a lot of problems in the body.
Symptoms may include being very tired, having a fever, losing weight for no reason, easy bruising, swollen glands, bone pain, and night sweats.
Treatment may include chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapies, and sometimes a bone marrow transplant.
