Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan died Thursday morning at the age of 71, with multiple outlets reporting that the cause of death was cardiac arrest. According to TMZ Sports, paramedics were dispatched to his Clearwater, Florida home following a 911 call referencing a cardiac emergency. Emergency medical technicians and police vehicles were seen at the scene, and Hogan—born Terry Gene Bollea—was reportedly transported from the home on a stretcher before being pronounced dead.
As of Thursday afternoon, Hogan’s family and representatives had not issued an official public statement.

Hulk Hogan Denied Rumors Days Before His Death
Hogan’s sudden death comes just days after his wife, Sky Daily, publicly denied persistent rumors that the WWE legend was in a coma or on life support. On Instagram, she responded to a fan who asked about Hogan’s condition, writing:
“No, he’s definitely not in a coma! His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage. None of those rumors are true.”
Her comments were meant to push back against online speculation that began circulating in June following reports that Hogan had been hospitalized for a neck and back issue.
The Hall of Famer had undergone a cervical fusion procedure in May, described by his team as “minor.” Following the surgery, TMZ also reported that Hogan was recovering well and was not in critical condition.

A Long History of Health Struggles
Hulk Hogan’s physical toll from decades in the wrestling ring has been well documented. In recent years, the star had undergone a series of surgeries, including multiple back operations, hip and knee replacements, shoulder repairs, and procedures on his eyes and abdomen.
In a 2023 interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, Hogan described living with “24 surgeries in the past 10 years,” including spinal fusions and complications related to years of intense physical performance.
Though he appeared at WWE-related events in recent months, friends and colleagues had acknowledged the toll that pain and recovery had taken on him.
Despite reassurances from family and reports that he was recovering, Hogan’s death appears to have been sudden and unexpected—triggered by cardiac arrest early Thursday morning.
