New fear unblocked! It’s been revealed that Jamie Dornan, best known for his role as Christian Grey in 50 Shades of Grey, had a terrible health scare recently as he had to be rushed to the Emergency Room with symptoms that suggested a heart attack!
Although it’s clear that the 41-year-old actor is more than healthy, the incident preoccupied his close ones as it was sudden and unexpected. According to one of his closest friends, Gordon Smart, who was also taken to the hospital for the same reason, they were happily enjoying some vacay time in Portugal when the symptoms started.
Smart talked about the scary incident on the podcast The Good, the Bad, and the Unexpected, and revealed that the group of friends were at a golfing resort in the European country. At first, they all thought the two friends were experiencing these symptoms because they had drunk too much the night before.
However, after a thorough examination at the hospital, they realized that both of them had been in contact with a toxic species of caterpillars known as Pine processionary moth caterpillars. These creatures have very tiny hairs that contain a toxic protein that can cause painful rashes, and throat and eye irritations.
“It turns out that there are caterpillars on golf courses in the south of Portugal that have been killing people’s dogs and giving men in their 40s heart attacks,” said Smart about the matter. He even added they were told by local doctors, they were “very lucky to come out of that one alive.”
According to Smart’s recount, he started feeling a “tingling in his left hand and tickling in his left arm.” Everybody thought these were signs “of the start of a heart attack,” including the paramedics. Twenty minutes after Smart was taken to the hospital, Dornan started experiencing the same frightening symptoms.
Both friends were taken care of at the hospital, and after some hours they were both released. Funny story, right when they were leaving “the paramedics asked them for a selfie, which is really what you want when you’re being wheeled out of a hospital room.”
Joking, Jamie Dornan’s pal concluded that at the end of the day, they were both relieved that “it wasn’t a caffeine overdose, it wasn’t a hangover; it was a poisonous, toxic caterpillar.” Also quite funny, it seems that Jamie Dornan and animals don’t have very good relationships as he’s revealed he’s quite allergic to horses as well! I’ve never heard of that allergy!
