According to the legal document, filed anonymously by a woman identified as “Jane Doe,” both artists are accused of abusing a minor in 2000 during an event following the MTV Video Music Awards.
This case has ignited controversy and adds to a series of previous lawsuits against Combs.
Jay-Z Responds to Allegations
Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z, quickly denied the accusations, calling them an extortion attempt.
“If these claims were true, they should file a criminal complaint, not a civil one. These very serious crimes deserve real justice, not lawsuits for money,” Carter stated.

He also revealed that the plaintiff’s lawyer had sent a letter requesting a financial settlement, which Carter described as “blackmail.”

Upon arrival, she was taken to a room and offered a drink, which allegedly caused dizziness and disorientation.
The lawsuit claims that abuse involving Jay-Z and Combs took place in that room while others watched. The young woman reportedly managed to leave the location and sought help at a nearby gas station, from where she contacted her family.
Filed under New York’s Gender Violence Victims Protection Act, the lawsuit seeks financial compensation for damages. Although the amount is unspecified, such cases aim to secure justice for the victim and raise awareness of the issue.
Meanwhile, Combs faces criminal charges in New York for alleged patterns of abuse and violence. He is currently held without bail, with a trial scheduled for May of next year.
