We know that Jimmy Kimmel was not one of the best hosts in Oscars history; even Donald Trump commented on social media, to which JK responded live by ridiculing the former president. But someone we can’t doubt is Emma Stone, who was uncomfortable with Kimmel’s speech.
What Did Jimmy Kimmel Say About Emma Stone?
When clips of the Best Picture nominees were played, Jimmy Kimmel made a very unpleasant comment about the movie and Emma by mentioning “Those were all the parts of ‘Poor Things’ we’re allowed to show on TV.” JK doesn’t appreciate art. And to some extent, he’s somewhat right, as the film showed a lot of Emma Stone’s nudity, but if he didn’t understand that it was part of the plot, well, there aren’t many ways to help him.
The audience chuckled a bit, but Emma Stone turned to her husband with a ‘ridiculous’ look on her face, saying something that’s still not very clear, but since we’re all lip readers, what Emma is supposed to have said was “What a prick.” Others think she said “Oh my god,” but the former sounds more coherent. The moment when Kimmel hinted that Poor Things is purely about sex went viral on the internet, and yes, there’s a lot of that, but if he thinks that, it’s because he didn’t pay attention to the premise.

And it seems that the presenter has a fixation with sex jokes, like a 13-year-old would, as he also joked about director Christopher Nolan‘s habit of writing scripts on a computer without the internet, saying it’s to prevent his porn addiction from ruining his work. Nolan laughed at the time, but OMG, does Kimmel not have anything else to joke about? Comedians who rely on attendees to mock are not good.
Anyway, Emma won the Best Actress trophy … Poor Things also won Costume Design, Production Design, and Makeup & Hairstyling. Great movie, if you have the chance to see it, don’t miss it.
