Jojo Siwa has been making waves in the music scene for quite some time now. From her early days on the show Dance Moms, she displayed immense talent, but now she’s determined to change course and focus not only on music but also on a more adult audience.
While we remember Jojo for her childhood and her fun, colorful look from her time on the show, she has now opted for a much darker style to let the world know she’s no longer a little girl; she’s a 20-year-old young woman. At the recent iHeartRadio Awards last Sunday, she was seen in a sparkly black bodysuit giving off rocker vibes and makeup reminiscent of the band KISS.

This led many people to criticize Jojo, accusing her of lacking originality and being a copycat of the famous band member Gene Simmons. We must admit the style itself is inspired by Gene, he has said he’s not bothered by Jojo drawing inspiration from him. In fact, according to TMZ, Gene has mentioned that he likes Jojo’s new “demon” look and the “bad girl” vibe she exudes, and those who criticize simply don’t understand it and are probably just jealous.
“Never be ordinary. Always be extraordinary. JoJo is extraordinary and she looks cool.”

With all this, it’s clear that Jojo is embarking on a new, more “adult” era, accompanied by her new song “Karma.”
Jojo Siwa’s Beginnings
Jojo started her career on the show Dance Moms, appearing for two seasons alongside her mother Jessalynn Siwa. In addition to that, she showcased her talent as a solo artist and dancer with her two singles “Boomerang” and “Kid in a Candy Store.”
