Jurassic park’s sam neill is ‘prepared’ to die of cancer

Sam Neill, an actor famous for having played Alan Grant in Jurassic Park, has been fighting cancer for several months. However, recently, he has revealed that even though his diagnosis is bleak, he is not afraid of death.
Neill explained in an interview with Australian Story that his doctors have been very direct with him from the beginning and have mentioned that the medications he is currently taking to stay stable will fail sooner or later at some point in the treatment.

It is for this reason that for several months now, the actor has begun to work on the way in which he sees death, so today he feels ‘prepared’ for when that moment arrives. Sam commented that he prefers not to wear himself out thinking too much about his illness since he is not really interested in it since they are situations that are outside of his control.

“I’m not even remotely afraid of death, but retirement is what really fills me with horror,” he said.

For this reason, despite the difficulties of cancer, the actor tries to stay active as much as possible, and because of this, he is currently working on the film adaptation of the novel Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty and on the second season of the miniseries The Twelve.

What type of cancer does Sam Neill suffer from?

Sam Neill suffers from a disease called ‘Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma‘, which is a type of cancer that originates in the cells of the lymphatic system, a part of the body’s main immune system. Unlike Hodgkin lymphoma, another type of lymphatic cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphomas involve several types of lymph cells and can occur in different parts of the body. There are many subtypes of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which are divided into categories based on the type of cells affected and how they behave.

Symptoms may include enlarged lymph nodes, fever, night sweats, weight loss, and fatigue. Treatment varies depending on the specific type and stage of lymphoma but may include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies.
