It’s been almost four years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the Royal Family for good, and almost the same time since the exiled couple has been battling their formal family in the public arena. Now, a bombshell book about the Royal Family has allegedly accused Kate Middleton and King Charles of being the two unnamed royals who commented on Harry and Meghan’s baby’s skin complexion.
Let’s go back a little bit. If you remember well, in 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world by giving an exclusive interview to Oprah Winfrey. One of the most commented moments in the infamous interview was when Meghan Markle revealed that one member of the Royal Family said some racist remarks about her future baby.
According to Meghan Markle, this royal “showed concern” about her then-unborn baby’s skin color. However, the Duchess of Sussex decided to keep their name a secret, sparking all sorts of suppositions of who would say those racist remarks. Among the first contenders were the late Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, considering they were the eldest and were a couple from another time, but Markle clarified that they weren’t senior royals, so they were immediately discarded.
For years, it was assumed the author of those remarks had been the now King Charles or Camilla Parker, which ended up being half true. Naturally, the new book’s revelation shocked everyone since no one thought Princess Kate, among all the royals, would be that close-minded!

The Big Revelation
So, how did the revelation come? Omid Scobie, the royal biographer, has just released a bombshell book called Endgame. Scobie is mostly known for being one of the few royal commentators to defend Harry and Meghan; he has even been accused of being a close friend of the Sussexes. Both parties have denied any close friendship, and the author has claimed the couple was not involved, whatsoever, in the writing of this book.
Having said that, Scobie’s book hints about the matter of racism, which Queen Elizabeth claimed at the moment was a very “concerning” matter and that they would be “addressed by the family privately.” It wasn’t only a matter of wondering about the baby’s skin complexion, it was also implied in the interview with Oprah, that Archie wasn’t given the status of Prince since the very beginning because they were waiting to see what skin color he would have when born.
The original English version of Endgame doesn’t point fingers at anyone due to British libel laws. However, something happened in the Dutch version, which freely named Kate Middleton and King Charles as the “racist” royals. This was frustrating for Scobie since it wasn’t planned at all! The editor of the Dutch version claims it was a mistranslation, although how could it be if no names were added?

The Royal Family’s Response to the Matter
After all the fuzz, the Royal Family has finally issued a response to the controversy, since it’s not complimentary to say that the King of Great Britain and the future Queen are a couple of racists who were more concerned about the skin color of a baby than welcoming him with love.
A spokesperson of Buckingham Palace, the King’s communication office, said that they were “exploring all options” about how to deal with the situation, but they’re not ruling out any “legal action.” Despite the shocking revelation about two of the most important and influential members of the royal family, they claim “business is as usual” for the royals.

Is the Royal Family Racist?
Now the big question remains; is the royal family racist? Right after the interview with Oprah, Prince William adamantly said that the Royal Family is “very much not racist,” but their actions prove otherwise. It’s not only about the Archie situation but their very long history of colonization and racism.
We don’t have to go that far to see that. We’ve seen endless pictures of the royals visiting their former colonies in Africa and the Caribbean in very problematic situations like Prince William and Kate being carried out by black locals, or them greeting Jamaicans being held separately by a wired fence. We can even remember Meghan Markle’s encounter with a secondary royal who was wearing a very offensive pin of a black slave.
The Queen and King are no different. Camilla and Charles have been blasted several times for laughing at the traditions and customs of African and indigenous cultures during public outings. And it’s not just their immediate actions, but the institution’s failure to acknowledge its dark past and make the due reparations. So, yes, if you ask us, it’s not that shocking to learn Kate and Charles made those remarks.
