Kelly Osbourne has stirred up a storm of criticism with her recent remarks about the trending weight loss drug Ozempic.
In a recent interview, the offspring of the legendary Ozzy Osbourne couldn’t stop gushing about the “awesome” medication, insisting that the haters are only throwing shade because they can’t shell out the cash for it.
According to Kelly:
“Why go for the boring workout routine when there are a million other ways to shed those pounds?. The haters just want to jump on the bandwagon. Most of them are either secretly using it or just mad they can’t afford it. Yeah, it’s pretty pricey right now, but trust me, it works, and the cost will come down eventually.”
Predictably, these remarks didn’t sit well with the denizens of X (formerly known as Twitter) and Redditt, who didn’t hold back on calling out the TV personality for her narrow-minded comments.
Some highlighted how the drug’s popularity among the wealthy has resulted in shortages for those with diabetes, the intended recipients of Ozempic’s benefits.
“Seriously, it’s not just us ‘jealous poors.’ Diabetic folks can’t get their meds because everyone’s jumping on the skinny bandwagon,” one user quipped. Another pointed out, “Rich people have access to healthy options, personal trainers, and chefs, but they opt for Ozempic, causing shortages for those who actually need it.”
Others took the opportunity to remind everyone of Kelly’s mom, Sharon Osbourne, slamming the drug recently due to its adverse effects on her body. One user noted, “Didn’t her own mom ditch Ozempic because it made her sick, lost 42 pounds in 4 months, and couldn’t gain it back?”
And the dissing didn’t stop there.
“Yeah, Kelly, we’re just jealous because we can’t afford it. It has nothing to do with the fact that the weight loss craze is causing shortages for diabetics,” one person sarcastically wrote. Another added, “Sure, we’re all just haters while my diabetic mom had to switch meds because people who don’t need it are hogging it. But yeah, just haters!”
Some also brought up the not-so-pleasant side effects that the drug has inflicted on many.
