The Succession actor, Kieran Culkin, won his first Golden Globes for best actor in a television drama this Sunday, in an emotional speech in which he said he never expected to be on stage and in which he joked with his partner Pedro Pascal, nominated for The Last of Us ‘Screw you, Pedro!’ he joked.
“About 20 years ago I was nominated for a Golden Globe, and when that moment happened, I still remember thinking that I would never be in this room again,” he said.
“But thanks to Succession, I’ve been here a couple of times. This isn’t mine, it’s for the team. I want to thank three incredible women in my life: my manager, without whom I would have no career, my wife Jazz, for putting up with this and everything that comes with it, and my wonderful mother,” he stressed.
Kieran Culkin was in one of the tightest categories. He was competing with none other than his co-stars, Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong, as well as the established Gary Oldman, in Slow Horses, Dominic West, from The Crown, and the aforementioned Pascal. On X, a funny image of the actor’s reaction to his colleague’s joke was shared, in which he is seen making a gesture in which he seems to cry in defeat.
