Kim kardashian’s surprising experience in india: not like "aladdin" at all

Kim Kardashian was in for a surprise when she arrived in India — it wasn’t exactly the magical, Disney-inspired experience she had envisioned.

“At least there’s a Starbucks here,” Khloé quipped as they navigated the bustling streets of Mumbai.

Klhoe and Kim’s Trip To India

In July, Kim and Khloé Kardashian were among the celebrity guests at the extravagant wedding of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man. The event, held in Mumbai, saw Anant marrying Radhika Merchant, the daughter of pharma moguls Viren and Shaila Merchant. After months of pre-wedding festivities, the Kardashians arrived to partake in the lavish celebration.

Fast forward eight months, Kim and Khloé opened up about their whirlwind 48-hour trip to India on their reality show, The Kardashians, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the wedding festivities. But the sisters quickly realized that India wasn’t quite what Kim had imagined.

Arriving at midnight, the pair went straight into wedding outfit fittings, determined to make the most of their limited time in the country. The following day, with more fittings on the agenda, they decided to squeeze in a visit to the local markets before the wedding celebrations commenced.

“We want to go explore the city,” Kim added, mentioning they also needed to pick up souvenirs for their kids. However, things quickly took a turn when they were told they would be walking to the markets. The chaotic streets of Mumbai came alive with rickshaws, cars honking, and pedestrians everywhere.

“Shouldn’t we just get a taxi?” Kim asked, startled when a stray dog approached. “Oh! I don’t do random dogs!”

Khloé, more at ease, offered a comforting observation: “At least there’s a Starbucks here.”

Kim, still in disbelief, remarked, “I thought it was going to be, like, the marketplace.” When asked if this wasn’t a market, Kim responded, “No, this is like the streets.”

As they made their way through the busy streets, Khloé said, “We are not in Calabasas anymore. There’s rickshaws going by, everyone was so surprised, like, ‘What the hell are these people doing here?’”

Kim, not one to shy away from humor, added, “A little bit of mayhem in the streets of India.” Khloé revealed that they had expected to visit something more like a spice market, akin to the vibrant scenes from the 1992 Disney film Aladdin, set in the fictional city of Agrabah.

Then, Kim candidly shared her thoughts: “What you see Aladdin going to and stealing the bread from, that’s where I thought we were going.”
