After being inactive for over three years following the release of her album ‘Solar Power’, Lorde returned to music alongside the current trendsetter, Charli XCX, in her new remix of “Girl, So Confusing,” one of the songs from the new album “Brat.”
Charli teased the incoming remix via TikTok displaying Lorde’s name; then she posted a small tease via instagram.
The video was uploaded on June 20th and surprisingly, it addresses the comparison between Lorde and Charli XCX, who have been mistaken for each others several times.
At one point, the lyrics Lorde sings:
-Well honestly I was speechless when I woke up to your voice note
You told me how you’ve been feeling
Let’s work it out on the remix.”
The song also addresses the physical comparisons the two singers have, which have been a big target and inside joke inside both Charli and Lorde’s fans, which have ultimately led to tension between the singers. Charli XCX even admitted it publicly, telling Rolling Stone Magazine she was even jealous of Lorde’s success:
“When ‘Royals’ came out, I was super jealous of the success that that song got, and that Ella got,” she admitted. “You piece all this stuff together in your brain, like: ‘She was into my music. She had big hair; I had big hair. She wore black lipstick; I once wore black lipstick.’ You create these parallels and think, ‘Well, that could have been me.’ But it couldn’t have because we’re completely different people. I wasn’t making music that sounded anything like ‘Royals’. I think you just read what you want into it because you’re feeling insecure about your own work.”

Luckily, the beef is over
Lorde also shared some words to thank the ‘Brat’ artist for being “changed” by her work.
“The only album I’ve ever presaved is out today,”“Charli just cooked this one different… So much grit, grace and skin in the game. I speak for all of us when I say it’s an honor to be moved, changed and gagged by her work. There is NO ONE like this bitch.”
