American rapper Nicki Minaj has been released by police after being detained at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport for allegedly transporting drugs, according to international media reports.

Through its X account, formerly known as Twitter, the police posted: “We have just released a 41-year-old American woman we arrested this afternoon at Schiphol on suspicion of exporting soft drugs. The suspect was fined and can continue her journey.”
The artist was scheduled to fly to Manchester for a concert at the Co-op Live venue on Saturday night as part of her Pink Friday 2 world tour.

In a live Instagram broadcast, the rapper documented the experience, including footage of a detention cell in a police vehicle. The singer talks with an officer who tells her she is in possession of drugs.

“I don’t carry drugs.” “I’m not going in there, I need a lawyer present. I need a lawyer present now. Where am I going?” she said. The police officer responded that she had to go to the station and that they would work with her to get her to her next show in Manchester. “What am I doing? Oh, so I’m under arrest? Detained for what?” she asked.

The ‘Big Foot’ interpreter took to X to address the situation, stating that her luggage was taken to be searched without her consent and that she was denied access to her own bags. “They’re getting paid a lot of money to try and sabotage my tour because so many people are mad it’s so successful and they can’t stand me,” she wrote. “They got caught stealing money from my trips/planes. He got fired. He got mad. Etc.”

According to the police, cited by international media, they found marijuana in her bags, which she claimed belonged to one of her security guards. “Now they said they found marijuana and that another group of people had to come here to weigh the pre-rolls,” said Nicki Minaj, highlighting that this type of drug is legal in the Netherlands, although it is illegal to transport it within or out of the country.
