North West Will Get Her Own Skincare Line, and It’s Problematic in All Ways

North West is joining the entrepreneur world of her A-List family.We know that the Kardashian-Jenner children were born with an almost assured life, a future without needs and practically paid for. It even seems to have been reincarnated in one of the infants. As they have grown up, and also gained fame, their mothers have registered trademarks in their names, as is the case of Stormi, Kylie Jenner‘s eldest daughter.

But she is not the only one in the last generation of the Kardashians to have her own empire; North West, Kim and Kanye’s eldest daughter, has also signed her brand and will play the little entrepreneur… or will it be her mom?

North West Will Have Her Own Skincare Line

In early March, Kim Kardashian filed four trademarks under her daughter North West’s name; these are for toys, general merchandise advertising purposes, nature entertainment, and skincare. Yes, a nine-year-old girl has four brands under her signature. The brand for skincare products includes non-medicated preparations, moisturizers, lotions, creams, cleansers, serums, facial and body oils, bath and shower gels, bubble baths, body powders, and nail and hair care products.

Why Is North West’s Skincare Brand Problematic?

For the elite, it is very normalized; in fact, in 2019 Kim trademarked her son’s name Psalm before selling hair accessories and toys; Kylie’s daughter Stormi has three brands under her name; and Rob Kardashian’s daughter Dream has five trademarks. The trademarks registered under their children’s names could be to protect them from others who want to use them to sell something, that could be the most innocent reason. However, the family only capitalizes on their family name and the importance it has in the market, thus increasing profits and power.

Now, on the other hand, it is important to mention that it is not normal for a nine-year-old girl to have and promote a skincare line; it is the pressure that young people are under to look a certain way and that from an early age, they begin to fill themselves with stereotypes, and see it as an obligation to worry about their appearance all the time.

Does a Girl Need an Elaborate Skincare Routine?

She doesn’t really, let alone have her own line of products to sell for profit. It’s also a case of precocious preadolescence because North knows a lot more about beauty than any average kid her age.

It’s pretty ominous stuff because the Kardashian-Jenners are involved in branding themselves to monetize their names. And they’ve done it skillfully, but that’s not to say that the shadow of capitalism on the future of children isn’t premature and weird. Children should grow up as children, not as models, young people, entrepreneurs, or objects.
