Shrek has become one of the most beloved characters by young and old alike, but before we got to know him as he appeared on screen, there was a scary first animation.
Recently, a video was released, which gives us a taste of what was the original version of this film that saw the light until 2001. The animation dates back to 1995, when they were testing how Shrek would look like, before the redesign we know, and we all agree that we should be grateful for the change.

Through social networks, fans of this film that reinvented fairy tales highlighted that the original idea is “terrible,” there are even those who confessed to feeling a little scared to see it, and it is really random. This character’s features are even coarser, his movements are slower, and even the color is darker, almost as if he had been taken out of a creepypasta.
“I could have gone my whole life without seeing this,” “I don’t know who I have to thank for the redesign, but seriously, THANK YOU,” “What a horror, I won’t be able to sleep, they already ruined my childhood,” “This Shrek, Donkey never came close,” can be read among the comments.
However, some were more observant and emphasized that the original Shrek looks more like the one in the book that was released in 1990 and was written and illustrated by William Steig.
