The famous socialite Paris Hilton and the music producer, Benny Blanco, boyfriend of the singer Selena Gómez, find themselves in the middle of the controversy and anger of the group Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), after publishing a video on Instagram in which they appear playing with a dying lobster, which has generated criticism on social networks.
The particular celebrity collaboration occurred to promote Paris Hilton’s kitchenware line and Blanco’s cookbook. In the recording, you can see both dressed in pink, and Blanco opening a box with a lobster inside.
“I have the biggest f*cking lobster in the world. My God”. “How sad, is it a boy or a girl?” Paris asked, to which Benny responded: “Does he have a d*ck?” Oh my god, he’s alive! It’s still moving!.”
After realizing that they couldn’t kill it, the situation became even more controversial when the crustacean was dressed, crowned, and given sunglasses. In addition, a mini bag was placed in one of his clothespins, and a handkerchief on top with the phrase: “That’s hot.” Later, they showed off with the animal while preparing a Bloody Mary, completely ignoring its suffering.
After the infamous video, the reactions on social networks were immediate. Users described the clip as insensitive, cruel, and sick. For its part, the PETA organization criticized the actions of celebrities: “We see a lot of insensitivity in our work to stop cruelty to animals, but joining immature adults in mistreating a living and sensitive being for a few shouts on social networks shows a surprising lack of empathy,” Lisa Lange, vice president of the organization, told Daily Mail.

Given the controversial video, the organization questioned Paris about her role as a mother and also about other similar actions in which she has been involved. “And to think that this person is a mother is deeply disturbing.” “PETA would ask Paris to show some consideration, but given her history of using animals as props, we’re not going to hold our breath.” In 2023, the celebrity was also the subject of criticism from the organization, for his decision to acquire a Chihuahua puppy through a breeder, instead of adopting it from a shelter.
