Paris Hilton was recently in the spotlight due to public protests against private schools and rehabilitation centers that were supposed to provide a safe space for troubled kids to improve their behavior and build better lives. However, it turned out to be a sham, as it was recently revealed that these rehab centers mistreated the kids—some even described it as torture. It was like living in hell.
Paris is back in the headlines because she’s producing a new docuseries that explores how female celebrities were treated in the early 2000s, including herself. We can’t deny that Paris Hilton is a fighter who isn’t afraid to air dirty laundry, especially when it comes to exposing the abuse she suffered in her childhood and adolescence.
In this docuseries, she will also talk about other early 2000s celebrities we know, like Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and Jennifer Aniston. The docuseries will be based on the book Toxic: Women, Fame and the Tabloid 2000s by Sarah Ditum. The adaptation is set to be a documentary series, and Paris will be one of the key subjects.
Sarah’s book focuses on nine personalities, including Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Aaliyah, Janet Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Kim Kardashian, Chyna, and Jennifer Aniston. It delves into the complicated dynamics of fame during that time. These celebrities were all over the headlines back then, with stories about breakups, mugshots, high-fashion outfits, and wild nightlife antics that were scandalous at the time.
Paris Hilton Taking Control of the Narrative
Paris claims that this docuseries will challenge the toxic narratives and shed light on the struggles these celebrities faced during those years. She also mentioned:
“When I discovered ‘Toxic,’ I was immediately taken by the depth of Sarah’s dedication, research and writing. Sarah’s work inspired me to envision ‘Toxic’ as a documentary series where we can provide a platform for similar stories of those who had to navigate intense public scrutiny, so they can reclaim their narrative from a time when they had little control.”
Many are hoping this new documentary will offer more insight into some of the more notorious moments of the 2000s, including the Paris and Lindsay feud, Britney’s meltdown when we all saw her with a shaved head, and Kim Kardashian’s sex tape that supposedly catapulted her to fame. Although we’re familiar with most of the events involving these celebrities in the early 2000s, we still don’t know much about what really happened or the details that led these celebrities to those iconic moments—not always for the best reasons.
