Pope Francis called some of the best and most recognized comedians in America and the world to a meeting at the Vatican.
The pontiff invited around 100 comedians from around the world. Personalities such as Chris Rock, Whoopi Goldberg, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and Conan O’Brien.
It is easier to laugh together than alone. Joy opens us to sharing and is the best antidote to selfishness and individualism.

During their meeting, the Pope not only lived with all of them and gave them a blessing, but also offered them an emotional message in which he highlighted the importance of laughter and the role they must play in front of the thousands of people who follow them.
“You manage to make people smile even while dealing with problems and events, large and small. You denounce abuses of power; you give voice to forgotten situations; you highlight abuses; you point out inappropriate behavior,” Pope said.
“In the midst of so much gloomy news, immersed as we are in many social and even personal emergencies, you have the power to spread peace and smiles,” he continued.

This is a nice change of vibe for Pope Francis… who has been in trouble and ideological controversies lately.
As you may know, he has been accused of letting homophobic thoughts and ideas slip behind closed doors, and although he has already apologized for it once, it seems like he hasn’t cared much because he continues to do it.
Anyway, the important thing is that he met with the comedians, right?

After giving his speech about the importance of the profession of comedians, the Pope greeted each of the comedians individually, sharing laughter and jokes with some of them.
“Divine wisdom practiced your art for the benefit of none other than God himself, the first spectator in history,” Pope Francis finished.
