Thanks to the release of the documentary ‘Quiet on Set,’ many child actors who suffered humiliation, abuse, and more behind the doors of the channel have decided to speak out. Raquel Lee Bolleau, who was part of the show ‘The Amanda Show,’ spoke about the humiliations she endured just to “entertain people.”
‘The Amanda Show’ was the hit program of its time, with Amanda Bynes being the lead and one of the most acclaimed child actresses. Alongside the scandals surrounding her, which included Dan Schneider, her co-worker Raquel Lee Bolleau, who also acted in the show, mentioned that AB used to spit on her.

After the release of the fifth episode of ‘Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,’ Raquel decided to speak up. She said her co-star, Amanda, spat in her face several times while filming an episode of the show. Raquel recounted a segment of the show called “The Literals” where Amanda used to spit in her face, something she found extremely distressing.
“Everybody thought it was so funny. Everybody’s laughing, but I did not find it funny. The third time, I was infuriated,” Bolleau said. “Like, I was so mad that the director hurried and put me on the side of the set and was like, ‘Listen, Raquel. Breathe in. Breathe out. She’s the star of the show.'”
The director asked Raquel not to make a big fuss about it and said he would ask Amanda not to spit in her face, but she should stay cool without causing any trouble.
The Clip That Humiliated Raquel Lee Bolleau
In one of the scenes, Amanda played Leslie Literall, a teenager who interpreted figures of speech literally as part of a family. In a scene, Bynes met Raquel and another actress and asked them to guess who had asked her to the school dance. Raquel told her to “spit it out” to reveal the name, but Amanda took a sip of her drink and spat it all over her.

The Toxic Atmosphere at Nickelodeon
Many actors and other staff members at Nickelodeon complained about the toxic work environment behind the channel’s doors. Many actors have even pointed fingers at Dan Schneider as an abuser and have spoken out about various abuses they endured while working for the network. While some were paid for their silence, others have spoken out about sexual abuse, humiliation, and mistreatment, including Drake Bell, Jennette McCurdy, Alexa Nikolas, and all the staff members who have been featured or not in the Discovery documentary.
