When we first read this, we thought it was an April Fool’s joke, but it’s true. Rebel Wilson revealed that she used Ozempic for a while as a tool for weight loss, and since starting her weight loss journey, she has shed approximately 80 pounds.
“Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good,” she said during a new interview with the Sunday Times.
Rebel Wilson began her weight loss journey after speaking with a doctor at a fertility clinic who told her she would have better chances of IVF if she lost weight. So she focused on weight loss through walking and a low-sugar, high-protein diet. According to Page Six, the actress confessed that she was criticized by many because they wanted her to continue playing roles of the funny fat girl, and if she lost weight, she would lose her category as an actress and her talent for comedy, but she didn’t care about those negative comments.
“Basically no one apart from my mom wanted me to lose weight,” she continued. “People thought I’d lose my pigeonhole in my career, playing the fat funny character, and they wanted me to continue in that.”
Gradually, Rebel increased her exercise routine, working her way up to two-and-a-half hour workout sessions, consisting of running up the steps of the Sydney Opera House in Australia and doing cardio sessions. Rebel has been very open about her weight loss journey, publicly disclosing her use of Ozempic (although she has mentioned that she already left it) as well as experiences such as gaining some weight after her daughter’s birth in 2023.
