Do you remember La La Land? (Clearly it’s a joke, everybody loved that movie even though 8 years have passed since its release). Well, recently, Ryan Gosling revealed that there is something that he just doesn’t like about that movie and that even now haunts him, what is it about?
In case you live under a rock or just plain hate musicals and never got into La La Land, this movie follows the story of Mia and Sebastian: she is a failed actress, while he is a frustrated musician. Over time, both will begin a relationship that will make them fall in love with life once again, however, very soon they will have to face a great challenge, continue with the love of their life, or pursue the dream they have always wanted.
The film was a complete success, and it gave Emma Stone her first Oscar, (not to mention the serious scandal that occurred during the Awards ceremony that year, when the presenters, Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, made a mistake when give the Best Picture award to this film, and not to A24’s ‘Moonlight‘).
The La La Land detail that continues to haunt Ryan Gosling
Ryan Gosling is promoting his new comedy film with Emily Blunt, ‘The Fall Guy’ or, as it was named in Mexico, ‘Profession Danger’. However, in an interview with WSJ Magazine, he revealed that there is a character he would have liked to repeat, mainly because there is something he would have liked to change.This is none other than Sebastian, his leading man in La La Land. And, according to his words, there is something that still haunts him about
having made that character one of the most popular of his entire film career.
Ryan Gosling is referring to the scene where he and Emma Stone dance to ‘A Lovely Night’, specifically the shot given to the film’s poster. He assures that he keeps thinking about the position of his hands during the scene, and that even now he regrets having placed it as it appeared in the final version, because he had another idea of how it would have looked better.
In the scene and poster, his left hand points upward, as if his arm were a spear pointing to the sky; However, he always thought that putting his hand at a right angle would look much better, since the way it looked in the final version didn’t make sense to him.
Now when I look at it – and I have to see it all the time – you know what would have been cooler than this?” Gosling question, holding his hand up in a similar position as the poster.
He responded, “That,”, referring his wrist up, to appear similar to Stone’s.
“It just killed the energy that way,” Gosling quipped. “It was sort of like, all leading to what? Just like a lazy … I call it ‘La La Hand.’”
Despite everything, La La Land is one of the most nominated films in the history of the Oscars, with 14 nominations in total and winning 6, including Best Director, Best Actress, Best Score, Best Original Song and Best Photography.
