You’d think Sabrina Carpenter’s songs are innocent, but when you pay attention, her lyrics are more PG-13 than your thoughts on a Saturday morning.
Adding to the conversation, we have her music videos: hotter than Paul Mescal in Gladiator II. But this time, one of her clips not only heated up the screens, it also ignited problems for a priest, who ended up fired for letting Sabrina film in his church (and for other equally scandalous matters).
A priest is fired after the recording of ‘Feather’ in his church

Jamie Gigantiello, a Catholic priest, was removed from his duties at Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Annunciation Church in Brooklyn, New York, after an investigation that brought to light several financial irregularities. Among these, unauthorized transfers for 1.9 million dollars and the use of parish credit cards for personal expenses.
However, what really caused a media stir was that Gigantiello allowed the recording of Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Feather’ video clip inside the church, without following diocesan protocols.

The video shows Sabrina dancing in front of the altar in a black veil and dark dress, surrounded by colorful coffins. Although for fans it was pure aesthetics, the images were considered inappropriate for a sacred place and generated criticism from both parishioners and religious authorities.

Although the video clip was the spark that ignited the scandal, the Diocese of Brooklyn made it clear that the real problem was the mismanagement of funds. Gigantiello reportedly transferred large sums of money to accounts linked to Frank Carone, former chief of staff to New York Mayor Eric Adams. In addition, the transactions violated multiple church financial protocols.
In an official statement, the authorities of the diocese regretted the actions of the priest, stressing the importance of protecting the trust of parishioners and the faith and respect for the Church.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Reaction
So far, Sabrina has not issued direct comments on Gigantiello’s firing, but during a concert at Madison Square Garden, she let loose a tongue-in-cheek comment that further inflamed the political atmosphere in the United States:
“What should we talk about… how I got the mayor indicted?”
The comment alludes to the accusations facing New York Mayor Eric Adams, who is under federal investigation on charges of bribery, wire fraud and conspiracy. According to People, “Outlets including Politico have suggested that the latter part of the Brooklyn Diocese’s statement refers to the “Feather” video causing a domino effect that ultimately led to an investigation into Gigantiello, described as having a taste for flashy accessories such as a large Rolex, and then into Adams’ ultimate indictment.”
What About The Priest?

Jamie Gigantiello publicly apologized, acknowledging that allowing the recording was an “error in judgment.” However, the outlook does not look good for him. Neither the church nor its parishioners seem willing to give it another chance anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Sabrina continues to triumph, and although her music video caused an earthquake in Brooklyn, it also reinforced her reputation as an artist willing to break the mold… literally.
