Serena williams recommends using breast milk to take care of your skin... And we’re already curious

Serena Williams, who gave birth last August, shared on social media her latest tip for taking care of her skin: using her breast milk. In a video for TikTok, the former tennis player says that she suffered from slight skin burns from the sun and now she makes her own “ointment,” apparently. Williams explained in a 46-second video that she had been told that putting breast milk on her children’s wounds could help speed up the healing process… so she thought it would be a good idea to try it on her wounds.

“I’ll try it for a week and see how it goes,” she said.

She later confirmed the effectiveness of it: Ok, this is weird… I have to say that after a week of using MY breast milk under my eye, it worked! I’m dying to know what you think… Be nice hahaha… Here you can see the clip:

Can Breast Milk Help Your Skin, as Serena Williams Says?

Although scientific research on this topic is limited and more evidence is needed to affirm that breast milk contains beneficial properties for the skin, it has been used in home remedies for many years without necessarily implying a health risk. What has been widely proven are the multiple nutrients that make it up, including fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, and minerals, which are important for skin health.

Breast milk also has antioxidants that can help protect the skin against damage caused by free radicals, thus contributing to a healthier appearance. And some components of breast milk have anti-inflammatory properties, which can be beneficial in reducing inflammation in the skin. Studies and specialized publications warn users to use it only if it can be guaranteed that the origin of that breast milk is safe, as in the case of Serena Williams. You already know, friends: if life gives you breast milk, do skin care.
