Recently, a couple of images of the Transformers protagonist circulated where he appears in a Church dressed in a white shirt and black pants. At first, people did not understand what it was about and speculation began about whether he would participate in a film. Later, it was revealed that these photos were from his Confirmation in the Catholic religion. This occurs more than three years after being accused of sexual assault and emotional abuse by his ex-girlfriend, singer FKA Twigs.
“We are delighted to share that our dear friend Shia LaBeouf fully entered the Church last weekend through the sacrament of confirmation!” reads the description of the publication shared by the Capuchin Franciscans-Province of America Western.
Shia LaBeouf’s Confirmation
The Capuchin Franciscan friars shared more details of the actor’s ceremony and his intentions to become a deacon, which they say delights them. Shia LaBeouf was confirmed at Old Mission St. Agnes Parish in Solvang, California, on New Year’s Eve, The Catholic News Agency reported. The famous man would have embraced the practices of the Catholic church after undertaking “a deep spiritual journey.”
“His decision to fully enter the Church is a testimony to his sincere desire to grow in his relationship with God and live the values of the Gospel,” the Capuchin Franciscan friars explained in a statement.
They highlighted their faithful belief in the “transformative power of faith and the incredible impact it can have on each person’s life,” highlighting that they will accompany the actor in this process.
“We invite you to join us in celebrating this momentous occasion and to keep Shia LaBeouf in your prayers as he continues to deepen his faith and seek God’s guidance in his life (…) May his example inspire others to explore their spiritual paths and find comfort in the loving embrace of the Church,” they detailed in the writing.
Shia LaBeouf Wants to Become a Deacon
As we said at the beginning, Shi is determined to enter the Catholic religion fully and after his Confirmation, he intends to become a deacon. A curious fact is that this little desire to do so arose after having starred in Padre Pio (2022), where he played the Italian priest Francesco Forgione. “He just spontaneously said, ‘I want to be a deacon,’ and he still feels that way,” said Capuchin friar Alexander Rodríguez, in charge of offering the actor’s Confirmation.
