Sophie Turner is willing to do anything to get her daughters back and take them with her to England, even if it means taking legal action against Joe Jonas. The Game Of Thrones actress filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan court requesting “the immediate return of the children taken or wrongfully retained,” as reported by Page Six.
In the documents to which this media had access, it is highlighted that the “wrongful retention” began on September 20 and that the former couple agreed in 2022, that England would be their “final home.”
“Both parties were excited about the family’s move to England.” In the lawsuit, Sophie Turner noted that on April 10, 2023, they officially moved from Miami to England and so she began filming their new project very close by, unlike Joe, who began touring with his siblings in several countries.
He also points out that they both accepted with “hesitation” that his daughters would travel with him because he had more periods of free time, so the agreement that the little girls would accompany him during his tour would be “temporary.” “The girls could at least spend some time during the day with one of their parents until the mother finishes her filming commitments,” the brief reads.
Sophie Turner Learned About the Divorce from the Press
Sophie Turner has remained silent throughout all the divorce news but in this new suit, she’s finally given details of her separation. In the documents, they also reveal that the decision to separate was after a strong argument they had on August 15, 2023.
After that, Joe filed for divorce on September 1, but Sophie found out four days later and not from him, but through the media. She has yet to respond to his filing in Miami court. Two weeks later, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas met to discuss their separation, where they also addressed the custody of their daughters. On that occasion, the actress made it clear that her plan is for the little ones to move to England, but now she accuses him of withholding their passports.
“The father has possession of the children’s passports (…) He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children to England with the Mother.” Apparently, the singer wants to keep his daughters, as on September 19, his lawyer confirmed that he would not return the documents or give his consent for them to move, which triggered the celebrity lawsuit.
Joe plans to file a similar lawsuit, but in the UK, where allegedly his case would be a “violation” of his custody rights.
