California has always been vulnerable to wildfires, thanks to its hot, dry climate, but the intensity and frequency of these fires have escalated dramatically in recent years. In Southern California, the Santa Ana winds are once again fueling the flames, carrying embers over vast distances and rapidly spreading fires across large swaths of land.

Billy Crystal and his wife Janice lost their home of more than four decades, which had been a cherished family residence. The couple expressed their sorrow but also their gratitude for their safety, as they managed to evacuate in time
Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren shared on Instagram that her beach house of almost 30 years was destroyed in the fire.
“There’s a rainbow shining on it which I’m taking as a sign of hope for all creatures who have been affected by this tragedy,” she wrote. “The animals and the rescue ranch are OK tho which is the most important thing. Stay safe everyone.”
Among the schools in the area that have been damaged is Palisades Charter High School, featured in several Hollywood productions, including the 1976 horror film *Carrie* and the TV series *Teen Wolf*.
