Woody allen habla de ser cancelado y jubilarse - 'i think it's very silly': woody allen to retire, dismisses being canceled

Since last year, Woody Allen has shown signs of wanting to retire, but, this time, he assured that it is very likely that he will do so at the age of 87 and after directing 50 films.

The filmmaker gave an interview to Variety, where he explained: “I have so many ideas for movies that I would be tempted to make them if it were easy to finance. But beyond that, I don’t know if I have the capacity to do it.”

Woody Allen, from the Venice Film Festival, where he presented Coup de Chance, which could be his last film made in France, also spoke about being canceled on social networks and assured that he does not consider himself to have been, despite being accused of abuse by his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow.

He even pointed out that it is something that “I feel that if you are going to be canceled, this is the culture that you should cancel. That all seems very silly to me. Don’t think about it. I don’t know what it means to be canceled. I know over the years it’s all been the same for me.”

He also commented that the only thing different in his life is the way films are presented: “I make my films. What has changed is the presentation of the films. You know, I work, and for me, it’s the same routine. I write the script, I raise the money, I make the film, I shoot it, I edit it. It comes off. The difference is not the culture of cancellation. The difference is the way they present the films. That’s the big change.”

Woody Allen, Accused by Daughter of Abuse

In 1992, Woody Allen was accused of abuse by his daughter Dylan Farrow, when she was seven years old. Since that day, the director denied the accusations, assuring that they were false, and the saddest thing was that she had believed it.

“She was a good kid, and I think she believes it (…) I don’t think she’s making it up. I don’t think she’s lying. I think she believes that,” Allen said.

That same year, a pediatrician treating Dylan Farrow contacted authorities about Woody’s alleged crime. Shortly thereafter, the filmmaker filed for custody of his three children with Mia Farrow, including Dylan. Investigators concluded that the young girl had not been abused, and while the team of experts backed up this response, the judge said he found no conclusive evidence.

“I loved my father (…) I respected him. He was my hero. And that obviously doesn’t take away what he did, but it makes the betrayal and the pain that much more intense,” Farrow said during an interview in 2018.
