In the midst of this heated dispute, the couple’s lawyer has officially requested to conceal their text messages to prevent potential leaks that could harm their case—leaks that Baldoni might use to his advantage.
Blake Lively’s Accusations and the Expanding Fallout
Lively’s allegations of sexual harassment against Baldoni have sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, even pulling other high-profile figures into the mix. Among them is Taylor Swift, one of Blake’s closest friends. The request to keep certain text messages private stems from concerns about their “high public relations value,” even if they are unrelated to the lawsuit.

What Are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Trying to Hide?
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ attorney, Meryl Conant Governski, didn’t disclose names but emphasized that if these messages were exposed, it could lead to “irreparable damage”—especially if conversations with influential individuals landed in the wrong hands.
“There are 100 million reasons for the parties involved to leak information because the PR value outweighs the importance of complying with the court’s orders,” Governski added.
Because of this, she requested Judge Lewis Liman to approve a “for attorneys’ eyes only” protection order. This would restrict access to the text messages, limiting them exclusively to legal teams while also covering personal mental health records and other sensitive security measures related to the case.

The Risks of Leaks and the Stakes for Lively & Reynolds
Governski also pointed out that some of Justin Baldoni’s co-defendants have built their careers around feeding information to the media and content creators. If these text messages fell into their hands, it could trigger a public scandal that might disrupt the case and affect Lively and Reynolds’ close circle.
Judge Liman acknowledged the growing public interest in the trial and stated that he would soon issue a ruling on the request. If approved, it would prohibit any leaks to the press, with violators facing fines or even prison time.
This legal dispute stems from the $250 million lawsuit Blake Lively filed against Justin Baldoni for alleged harassment during the filming of a drama project. However, Baldoni has fought back with a $400 million countersuit, accusing Lively of defamation and extortion.

Lively’s recent motion follows Baldoni’s revelation of a series of text messages in which she allegedly referenced Game of Thrones characters, calling herself “Khaleesi” while dubbing Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds as her dragons.
In one of the messages Baldoni presented, Lively reportedly wrote:
“My dragons also protect those I fight for. So, in reality, we all benefit from these wonderful monsters of mine. You will too, I promise.”
