It all started when people noticed unusual updates on their Instagram feeds. Suddenly, there they were—Trump, Vance, and Melania’s profiles popping up in their “Following” lists. Confusion quickly turned into suspicion, leading many to share their grievances on social platforms.
Some theorized that Meta, Instagram’s parent company, might be quietly nudging users to follow accounts they never opted into.
Demi Lovato’s Experience
Things escalated when pop star Demi Lovato chimed in on social media, confirming they’d also been automatically subscribed to Trump’s account. Given Demi’s popularity and outspoken nature, fans quickly rallied around them, seeing this as proof that something bigger might be going on behind the scenes.
Meta’s Reaction
Meta, for its part, insists it’s all standard procedure. Company representatives explained that official accounts associated with top government positions get transferred when new individuals take office. In other words, if you followed the previous administration’s accounts, you’re automatically rolled over to the new team’s profiles—no matter who’s in charge.
