Netflix‘s hit series Emily in Paris has announced a fifth season, but this time, Emily won’t be in Paris—she’ll be in… Rome.
The end of season four left fans in shock, as Emily relocates to Rome for work after a life full of drama and career challenges in Paris.
This shift has not sat well with French President Emmanuel Macron, who has expressed his disagreement with Netflix’s decision to continue filming the show in another country.

President Macron isn’t thrilled with the idea of moving Emily to Italy and has already spoken out about his position, making it clear that he’ll do everything in his power to stop the change.
“We will fight hard. And we will ask them to remain in Paris! “Emily in Paris“ in Rome doesn‘t make sense,” Macron told Variety in an interview.

The series has captivated fans not only with its drama but also with its eye-catching outfits, incredible Parisian locations, and a cast that has won over thousands of viewers. According to the president, Emily in Paris has been a major positive in terms of boosting the country’s appeal.
Moving the series to another country could mean that the City of Light loses some of the popularity and charm it has gained, thanks to Netflix.
Did France’s First Lady Appear in the Series?
Interestingly, Brigitte Macron, France’s First Lady, made a brief appearance in the fourth season of the show. Though it was only a few minutes, it made her husband very proud.
“It’s just a few minutes, but I think it was a very good moment for her,” Emmanuel Macron said.

Could another cameo be in the works to keep the series in Paris? We don’t know for sure, but it will be fascinating to see what happens next and if they manage to keep the show in the City of Light.
