If you’ve been following the Olympics, you might be familiar with Flavia Saraiva.
This Brazilian gymnast competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics and, despite a painful fall during the warm-up before the artistic gymnastics team final, managed to secure a bronze medal for her country, Brazil.
What Happened to Flavia Saraiva?
“I could not see, it bled, but the team’s doctor told me everything was all right. I believe my knee hit my eye when I tripped.”
She then realized she was on the floor, lying down with her knee in her face.
The 24-year-old simply rolled over so her teammate could warm up, but suddenly, someone noticed that the Brazilian was bleeding.

“I put my hand on my face and my eye was bleeding, I didn’t understand anything. Then he asked if I was warm. Then I said: ‘Now I’m awake,'” Flavia said.
She also stated that it was not the first time this had happened to her. “We are warriors,” she added.
After her injury, Flavia appeared with a black eye, a band-aid, and a big smile.
Thanks to the talent and brilliant attitude, the Brazilian team, composed of Flavia, Rebeca Andrade, Jade Barbosa, Lorrane Oliveira, and Júlia Soares, achieved an outstanding performance.
Brazil secured third place with a total score of 164.497, behind Italy with 165.494 points and, of course, the United States team, led by Simone Biles, which scored 171.296.
